Services:
Every project is different, which is what makes my job so much fun! I know I probably didn't think of everything so don't hesitate to call if you don't see something that will work for your project but the below list seems to cover most situations.
Design Consultation-
If you just need some quick advice this is a great way to get help on certain areas of your landscape. The charge is by the hour with a minimum of one hour.
Three Meeting Design-
If you choose this option, you should expect to meet with the designer 3 times. The 1st meeting will be for gathering information about your project. I will measure the property and assess the existing conditions in order to draw up the plans. At the 2nd meeting we will go over 1 to 2 design concepts showing the general outlines of the designs. This may include the layout of the patio, beds, water feature, walls etc. This is your chance to play around with the concept designs as much as needed to be sure that it is exactly what you are looking for. We will also discuss hardscape materials and plant selections that I recommend for the project. The information obtained from this meeting will be used to draw up the final plans. For the 3rd and final meeting, I will present the final design that will incorporate all details discussed in the previous meetings and will be the document that you will use to move forward with the project. You should expect to receive the following at the end of this process…. Planting Plan (to scale)- 4 copies, Hardscape Plan (to scale)- 4 copies (If shown separately from the planting plan), Plant List- 1 copy, plus a pdf file showing name, quantity, size recommended and notes, CD- Includes, PDF file of plans and plant list, photos of all plants on plan and concept photos of hardscape elements, Manufacture catalogs for hardscape materials where applicable.
Design Detail Drawings-
Depending on how complex your project is, drawings of key hardscape elements in the design is important to get the design intent across. This will help convey the look of certain elements in the design such as woodwork for structures and screens or masonry for fireplaces and outdoor kitchens. This service is important to be sure the design intent is maintained throughout the construction phase.
Lighting Plan-
Landscape Lighting can be the key to making or breaking a design. Often in the Pacific NW we are stuck viewing the landscape from the inside during those long dark days of winter and lighting can really help to enhance the view. Aside from that, it is great to be able to enjoy the evening as long as we can during our short summers and lighting can help to set the mood.
Assistance in the Bidding Process-
Interpreting bids for a project can often times be very intimidating and confusing. With this service, I will meet to go over the plans with 1 to 3 contractors in order to collect bids from them for the project. We will then get together to discuss the benefits and draw backs of each in order to help you make the decision of which contractor to choose.
Assistance with the Installation-
It is always great when I get to be involved with the construction process. Not only does the customer benefit, but the contractor is also grateful to have the added support in installing the project according to plan. Often times it is difficult to finalize the selection of hardscape materials during the 3 meeting design. With this option we will meet on site or at the stone yard to review samples of the previously discussed hardscape materials in order to make a final decision for installation. In addition, I will communicate with the contractor at least once a week during the construction process. Depending on the size of the project I will visit the site 2 to 3 times throughout the project to review the progress. One of these visits will include working with the contractor in the placement of the plants prior to the planting phase.
